. . . continued from November 5.

“The Republicans have a positive talent for self-destruction.”

–Barry Goldwater.

It’s all Trump’s fault, proclaim the naysayers. How can you have already forgotten how awful things were under China Joe? And let us just look at a short list of conditions under President Trump:

  • Wages have risen
  • Unemployment is low
  • Inflation has slowed
  • The GDP is growing
  • Crime has dropped dramatically
  • The border is closed (which is what most Americans claimed they wanted in 2024)
  • Transgender is being removed from institutions (another thing Americans claimed to want)
  • Trump has ended smoldering wars around the world
  • Our genocidal enemy, Iran, is currently unable to field a nuclear weapon that could have reached half the world
  • China’s trade depredations have been slowed or reversed

The American people are spoiled. They are impatient. They are immature. They are children. They will suffer no inconvenience for the greater good.

When my Mother was a little girl, her family ate margarine instead of butter to help the war effort (WWII). Even though they lived on a farm. They did not bitch, gripe, and moan. My Father served in the Pacific theatre in WWII. He did not bitch, grip, and moan. He certainly did not complain about his long deployment, which lasted years, not months.

Let’s go back further. The American Revolution was led by men with prices on their heads. They risked everything to secede from the most powerful Empire on the planet. They underwent deprivations unknown to almost all of their posterity. They suffered setbacks. They did not quit. They certainly did not throw an electoral hissy fit 2 years into the movement.

How about the Virgina Military Institute cadets? They marched more than 40 miles, in cold conditions, many of them without shoes. They were ill provisioned, young, and untrained. Upon arriving at New Market, these young men were thrown into battle against the well trained, well-provisioned, and well-rested U.S. Army. These boys did not complain, they did their duty, sacrificing for their country. And they beat back the U.S. Army on that day.

Today, the American people live under a far more oppressive and intrusive government than did the American colonists, or the Southern citizens in 1860. Do we have men and women principled enough to risk it all, or risk anything, to push back against the federal government? Heck, no!

Today, if the price of an avocado is too high, people blame the President. My healthcare is too expensive! Well, how is that the responsibility of government? I agree that government interference in the marketplace caused that expense, but do you really think putting the people who caused that expense back in charge will help it? Do you think that the Democrat Party, who just 2 years ago wanted to force you to drive an electric vehicle, will lower gas prices? No, no, no, it is easier to blame the President. Because . . . Orange Man Bad.

When Christians and conservative families don’t vote, they redistribute their power. They hand it, free of charge, to the people who did show up. Every churchgoer who sat this one out surrendered their voice to someone else’s agenda. That is redistribution, and we did it to ourselves.

Roughly 30 million churchgoing Christians in America don’t vote. That is not a rounding error. That is the margin in every close race on the map.

Socialism fails because it teaches people they can stop working and the government will give them something for free. No economy survives that expectation.

A republic fails for the same reason.

America can fail if Christians and conservative families stay home, expecting the government, a government they own, to move in the direction they want without doing the work of showing up to vote. Self-government is not a subscription service that can run on autopay.

Whether the debate concerns abortion, protecting children from harmful medical procedures, pornography, gambling, intoxicating drugs, or fairness for women and girls, the moral stakes remain. Politics didn’t create these fights. It only decides who wins them.

Find your voice. The government is ours, and it is a gift from God. It’s time we became better stewards.”

–Craig DeRoche, The American Thinker (November 4, 2026).

I am so disappointed. Very little was asked of anyone. And few were willing to give.
