“Democracy is the art and science of running the circus from the monkey cage.”
–H.L. Mencken.
The American people threw a temper tantrum yesterday, and now we will all have to live with it. The Left came out and voted for socialism. And the Bush Republicans did not come out at all, abandoning the playing field to the Left.
But, but, but . . . it is all Trump’s fault! Nobody likes him! Huh. Did it ever occur to the whiner, moaners, groaners, and complainers that you are not voting for your friends, you are voting for policies, and the people who will work to enact those policies?
But, but, but . . . high gas prices!
They are still lower than under China Joe. And would you rather have a mushroom cloud rising over New York City? Since 1979, Presidents have vowed to confront the Iranian threat. None did so, until President Trump.
But, but, but . . . the war! It has gone on too long.
The Iranian conflict has been going on since March. That is not too long. The U.S. military has decimated the Iranian military, nuclear program, and is strangling its economy. That takes time. But if anyone reading this truly believes that the U.S. should commit ground troops, please feel free to tell me. And be sure to volunteer for the Army right after.
But, but, but . . . tariffs!
I understand why people do not like the notion of tariffs. This contentious topic has been going on since the founding of the Republic.
The tariffs of today is government’s response to a problem government created. Beginning under George H.W. Bush, and continuing under Clinton, W. Bush, and Obama, the globalists argued that more international trade would benefit all countries. The ultimate move in this direction occurred when China was admitted to the World Trade Organization.
In theory, the globalists have a point. Free trade–not merely international trade–does benefit all countries. But that is not what we have today. The globalists preached their theory, all the while knowing that the European nations, China, Vietnam, India, Canada, Mexico, and others had no intention of engaging in free trade. So what happened is that the United States unilaterally disarmed on the trade front, and American companies rationally (from an economic standpoint) offshored their manufacturing and production.
It was a smart business move. Other countries do not have the oppressive business regulations that our federal government imposes (largely, unconstitutionally). No EPA rules, minimum wage, OSHA, etc. It is cheaper to build abroad, and import the final product here.
The result was, however, devastating on American industries such as furniture, steel, textiles, and others. Workers lost their jobs, towns deteriorated, and industries collapsed. But the globalists were happy, because they view themselves as “citizens of the world”, as opposed to Americans.
But foreign countries maintained their trade obstacles, and worked to either entice American investment, or protect their own domestic industries. It was a good deal for them, because the United States is the world’s biggest market, and we had lowered or eliminated our own trade barriers.
The U.S. economy slowly, but steadily changed, and not in a good way. We learned that during COVID, when Americans learned that most everything they needed, from medicine to steel to guns and ammunition, were manufactured abroad. It was a shock to the system. And it was revealed as a national security danger.
What President Trump is trying to do is to 1) force foreign countries to lower their trade barriers; and, 2) entice manufacturing to return to the USA. It seems to be working. Whether it is the correct solution or not will not be known for years.
What is sad is that small businesses have been caught up in this change. Just as other businesses got caught up in the prior change.
Again, in a perfect world, there would be no trade barriers put up by any country. Every country would be able to concentrate on its economic strengths, and benefit from other countries’ economic strengths. Prosperity would blossom around the globe.
But we do not live in a perfect world. We live in a world where politicians who have never manufactured a widget believe that they should set the conditions for manufacturing widgets, and set the price of widgets. We the people get screwed in the process.
But, but, but . . . the ballroom! And the Arch! And the Reflecting Pool!
Please. Get a life. If these “issues” concern you, you are not a serious person, and should not be allowed to vote. You are a moron.
There are actually a lot of so-called Republicans that are absolutely giddy about the mid-term elections. They are convinced that this means Mr. Trump is finished, and that they will be able to resume power. Let us hope not.
I am most disappointed in the Commonwealth of Virginia results. Democrat voters took the document first written by Thomas Jefferson, Richard Henry Lee, and George Mason, and soiled it. What did they do? They amended the Constitution to enshrine an unfettered right to murder your unborn child right up to the moment of birth, and perhaps, according to former Governor Coonman, shortly thereafter. They amended the Constitution to redefine marriage, with language so broad, you might be capable of marrying your Golden Retriever. They amended the Constitution to automatically restore civil rights to felons, no questions asked. I guess Betty No Last Name and Biscuit Rigsby can now rest easy.
Virginia Democrats flipped 2 Republican seats in Eastern Virginia. But they lost in Southside and Western Virginia. Radical Beth Macy (D.) lost handily to Representative Ben Cline (R.) in the 6th District. She can now go back to writing puff pieces for Democrats at The Roanoke Times. Representative John McGuire (R.) beat former Representative Tom Periello (D.) in the 5th District, which encompasses most of Southside Virginia. Tom Periello is a Soy Boy. And Representative Morgan Griffith (R.) easily won in the 9th District.
Longtime Maine Senator Susan Collins (R.) lost to an incestuous little man. Susan Collins was more liberal than most, but still a thoughtful and loyal Republican Senator. Troy Jackson is going to be a crude, immoral, and pin headed replacement.
Outgoing Senator John Cornyn (R. Tx.) could not bother to endorse the Republican nominee, Attorney General Ken Paxton (R.). But Mr. Cornyn could not wait to congratulate James Talarico, the homosexual, vegan, anti-Christian, lying Leftist who will replace him. Way to go, Senator Cornyn, you and your fellow Bush Republicans can now look forward to having Senator Soy Boy represent Texas in Congress.
Xavier Becerra won the Governor’s race in California, beating Steve Hilton. Sigh. Californians deserve whatever comes their way, including an earthquake causing it to slide into the Pacific Ocean.
What has California got going for it? Excellent weather. Beautiful scenery. Abundant natural resources. And, of course, In-N-Out.
But California could be so much more. But it won’t be anytime soon, because its populace is stupid. Seriously stupid. The voters are so dumb they make the politicians look smart. Until things change, California will be a sh*thole State. Don’t believe me? Fly out to LAX, and drive to downtown Los Angeles. A nuclear bomb could go off in downtown LA, and it would be weeks before anyone noticed a difference.
Ohio elected a governor who calls up in a ball in on the floor and cries before making decisions or speaking. Its voters also elected a Socialist who has never held a job, and spent years in Congress, accomplishing absolutely nothing.
Kansas sent a faux Christian minister to the Senate. Get ready for some pro-trans legislation, as well as the advance of the LGBTQ++ agenda.
Wisconsin elected a Marxist for Governor, who will raise taxes. And then he will raise them again. And again. And again.
Michigan elected a Muslim terrorist to be its next Senator. Good golly Bob!
Michigan Democrat Pary Chair Curtis Hertel expelled Representative Haley Stevens (D. Mi.) over her endorsement of Mike Rogers (R. Mi.). What happened to the Democrat mantra of “country over party”?
Shortly before the election, Abdul El-Sayed told reporters that there was no point in banning boys from girls locker rooms and restrooms, because girls could just go onto the internet to see male genitalia. WHAT? And this guy won?
New York State reelected Governor Kathy Hochul (D.). Good gravy, New Yorkers are dumber than Californians.
“As Christians, we recognize election engagement as a tangible way to love our neighbors. Our mandate to care for God’s world and people compels us morally and spiritually to vote and to help ensure voting access for others.”
–Episcopal Church USA Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe.
The Episcopal Church held prayer vigils on Election Day. The Church professes to be non-partisan. It is not. Its leadership is absolutely giddy at the thought that socialism will take over our country.
To be continued . . .
