Holland and English are safely in Dallas, and working to put Holland’s apartment together. I imagine that Holland and her friends will reward English’s efforts with some wining and dining at their favorite haunts.
Meanwhile, Dudley and I are coexisting. It is a very fragile situation. As longtime readers know, in Dudley’s mind, it is always my fault that English is not present. English and Holland went out together earlier this week, and Dudley glared at me like I had stolen his supper bowl.
In Michigan, a group of lawyers brought a petition for writ of habeas corpus to free chimpanzees from “incarceration” in a zoo. It was quickly dismissed by the trial court, and the lawyers appealed on behalf of their “clients”. The Michigan Supreme Court affirmed the trial court’s dismissal, but there was a dissenting opinion. A Leftist justice thought that the Court should explore, due to “evolving standards”, whether animals had “rights”.
Now the dissent is absurd. The whole basis of U.S. jurisprudence is English common law (with the exception of Louisiana, which was a Spanish, then French, colony). As far back as William Blackstone’s Commentaries, it has been recognized that animals maintain no rights. This is common sense, and Mr. Blackstone himself bases his commentary on the Book of Genesis. As in, the beginning of time.
But this dissenting justice would throw out centuries of legal precedent, based solely on his understanding of “evolving standards”. His understanding. And this is what Leftists mean when they discuss a “living Constitution”. As in, times change, and the Constitution must change with the times. Well, there is a process for change, and it is called amending the Constitution. But that is too hard. So Leftists seek judges willing to impose their “evolving standards” on we the people. No amendment process. No deliberations and votes by our elected representatives. No voter approved referenda. Nope. Just their view of what must be.
And once these “evolving standards” are judicially imposed, they are next to impossible to remove. How long did it take to abolish the fiction that there was a federal right to abortion (a “right” not mentioned in the Constitution)? The Supreme Court briefly abolished the death penalty, even though that is in the Constitution. And from the beginning of time–the Book of Genesis again–marriage has been the union of a man and a woman. That is, until the United States Supreme Court said it was not. “[E]volving standards”, don’t you know?
So when you hear phrases like “evolving standards” or a “living Constitution”, prick up your ears. These are mere euphemisms for judicial tyranny. And judicial tyranny never works to benefit the people. Beware.
Brighton, New York rejected a Christian resident’s request to erect a Nativity Scene in the town square, at Christmas. The town did permit, however, a Muslim banner to be erected during Ramadan. Brighton is now being sued for religious discrimination.
Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong (D.) vowed, that if elected, she would use force to keep ICE agents out of her State. Oh, wow. Shades of Fort Sumter!

When asked why he was there, Mr. Murray said that In-N-Out had the best burger–by far–“by a million miles”. He’s right. Just as I have been advising readers for more than 10 years.
The St. Jude golf tournament in Memphis will no longer be part of the Fed Ex Cup championship, beginning in 2028. That is a shame.
Rumors are that Fox football broadcaster and former NFL player Greg Olsen will replace Tony Romo at CBS. Oh, no. I do not think Tony Romo is a very good broadcaster, but Greg Olsen is definitely worse.
A dear reader took issue with my displeasure of Tony Romo as a sports broadcaster. I explained to the dear reader that I disliked all sportscasters generally. They talk too much, distracting the viewers from the actual event. The worst are golf broadcasters who just cannot shut up. They just cannot.
Stanford University is spearheading a movement toward student-athlete unions, that would eventually make players university employees. Stanford expressed hope that its idea would spread all across all Atlantic Coast Conference schools. Sigh. This is among the dumbest ideas ever. The ACC never should have let Stanford join the conference.

Republicans should make Democrats own the radical agenda they refuse to reject
Voters deserve to know what the Democratic Party’s ‘big tent’ now includes

With gas over $4 a gallon, an unpredictable president and an unpopular war, some Republicans are giving in to panic.
Instead, they should see the November midterms as a chance to increase their congressional majorities.
Gas prices will likely come down, and Democrats are putting up anti-American, socialist/Islamist candidates.
However, there is a caveat: The Republican Party must conduct a bold branding campaign, without apology.
People need to be reminded of the way things were under President Biden. That was when gas rose to $5 a gallon, inflation soared as high as 9%, millions of unvetted illegals poured across the border, Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro was thumbing his nose at the U.S. and Iran was weeks away from getting the bomb.
The message: If you vote Democratic at any level, you are summoning back the bad old days. You are also enabling Democratic Socialists of America, which is taking over the party and pushing a bizarre, anti-American agenda.
A recent Washington Post poll showed that 75% of Democrats said they could vote for a DSA candidate.
The Democratic Party already supports illegal immigration, no voter IDs, noncitizen voting, confiscatory taxation, bigger government, limitless abortions, drugging and mutilating sexually confused teens, anti-Zionism and openly siding with America’s enemies.
DSA’s platform calls for all that, plus tearing up the U.S. Constitution, abolishing prisons, defunding police, ending capitalism and imposing liberty-crushing collectivism.
Democrats are at a crossroads. Disowning DSA would split their coalition. If not, they could credibly be accused of abetting national suicide. Republicans hold the high cards and need to play them.
Sen. Tim Kaine, Virginia Democrat, could have distanced his party from DSA during a recent Fox News interview. Instead, he welcomed its members inside the “big tent.” Fine, you now own them.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a DSA member, is the Democratic Party’s poster boy. An Islamist and communist, he has openly embraced antisemitic figures such as online streamer Hasan Piker. Wearing a Mao-style suit, Mr. Piker told College Democrats of America at their summer convention that Democrats who “fund Israel” or “fund ICE” are “fascists” with whom the left should no longer cooperate.
Mr. Mamdani’s class warfare is aimed at New York’s private sector, the world’s free market fountainhead.
He has frozen rents in 1 million housing units while threatening to seize properties that fall behind in maintenance. Last week, his staff posted a searchable database of 960,000 people who own a pied-a-terre — an expensive second home that will be taxed more heavily. This is basically an “enemies list” for doxing in a city where a healthcare CEO was murdered on the street by an assassin whom the left has crowned as a folk hero.
Mr. Mamdani is building five city-owned supermarkets. A core basket of goods will be priced at 30% below typical retail prices and recalibrated each month. This will drive privately owned stores out of business, leaving “food deserts.” The government will become the monopoly supplier, setting the stage for rationing.
It will not be enough for Republicans to cry, “The socialists are coming!” or even “The communists are coming!” Millions of brainwashed young people equate socialism and communism with fairness and compassion. They need a crash course in how these poisonous, envy-based systems create misery and tyranny.
A national campaign could start with excerpts from Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s recent speech at an anti-terrorism conference. Echoing President Reagan, he called communism “a distinctive and unique evil,” an anti-God philosophy that “has always been driven by a hatred, above all else, for civilization itself.”
Political ads this fall should illustrate the stark moral contrast between the parties.
The most effective Trump 2024 campaign ad showed Vice President Kamala Harris supporting sex changes for inmates. It represented so much that is wrong with the Democratic Party, including favoring criminals over victims and subsidizing depravity.
Republican ads could expose what the Democrats under Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz have done to that state. The Justice Department is uncovering billions of dollars in fraud, much of it in the Minneapolis-St. Paul’s Somali community, of whom 81% are on some form of welfare.
An even more shocking item has surfaced. Starting this fall, Minnesota teachers will introduce children as young as 4 to MyGender Dolls, which feature removable, interchangeable sexual organs.
“Prototypes of the dolls were shown in a 2024 conference where one named ‘Sam’ can be seen in what appears to be some phase of a gender transition, with a detachable penis off to the side, and a dress and girls’ underwear within reach,” the New York Post reported.
Mr. Walz was the 2024 Democratic vice presidential candidate who famously ordered tampon dispensers in boys’ restrooms.
If a strange man outside the schoolyard slipped MyGender Dolls out from under his raincoat and showed them to schoolchildren, he would be arrested and charged with child abuse.
Democrats cannot explain their way out of this, nor can they justify Mr. Mamdani’s inflicting communism and Islamism on New Yorkers. This September will mark the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, which Mr. Piker said “America deserved.”
While we are at it, Democrats went along with all of Anthony Fauci’s pandemic dictates, including masking children, suppressing effective alternative treatments, censoring critics, forcing people to take shots and mandating closings and lockdowns except when it came to antifa/Black Lives Matter rioters or illegal border crossers.
Make the Democrats own it all, even for candidates running for school board.

Stop voting for ‘trans-Republicans’
Gentner Drummond identifies as something he is not

Remember the lesson of the canary in the coal mine: Poisonous gas is never localized. It is pervasive. It spreads. Another way to say it is that the old commercial “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” is a lie.
What just killed the little bird in his small cage is very likely going to kill you and your neighbor if you do not pay attention and reverse course immediately! So, reader beware. If a political charlatan such as Gentner Drummond can get elected in a “red state” such as Oklahoma, the next shoe to fall will be in your own backyard.
Who is Gentner Drummond ? In almost every way, he is the poster child of what we should be calling our nation’s “trans-Republican movement,” for this is a man who politically “identifies” as something he most assuredly is not.
To prove the point, here are just a few high (or low?) points of Mr. Drummond’s resume.
First, Gentner Drummond has given thousands of dollars to numerous left-wing Democrats. He not only gave money to Joseph R. Biden to defeat Donald Trump but also supported efforts to unseat noted conservatives, such as Sens. Tom Coburn and Jim Inhofe, and Rep. Jim Bridenstine.
The Federal Election Commission confirms that at least 11 liberal Democrats have received financial support from Mr. Drummond over the years, including but not limited to one queer activist by the name of Chris Brecht, who ran to become an Oklahoma district judge.
Second, in 2022, Mr. Drummond, upon becoming attorney general of the state of Oklahoma, immediately made it a top priority to join with the ultraliberal Freedom from Religion Foundation and the American Civil Liberties Union to file suit seeking to deny the people of Oklahoma their right to choose a board-approved charter school for their children.
Why? Because the charter school in question happened to be named St. Isidore’s and is Catholic. So much for Oklahomans’ religious freedom to choose a school consistent with their faith and values.
Third, after becoming Oklahoma’s attorney general, Mr. Drummond rushed to advance a highly questionable “environmentalist” lawsuit against the state’s poultry industry, which, according to the Oklahoma Poultry Federation, risks putting thousands of small family farms and ranches out of business.
The supposed problem: These good people want to use the natural product of chicken manure to fertilize their fields.
If you think that sounds counterintuitive to sound “environmentalism,” you are right.
Fourth, Gentner Drummond , despite hailing from one of the state’s most prominent ranching families, is not even endorsed by the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association. In fact, the OCA has officially “rescinded and voided” a January 2025 political endorsement of Mr. Drummond for Oklahoma governor because of its “significant concerns.”
Such organizations do not do such things lightly or for no good reason.
Fifth, Oklahoma’s Blue Sky Bank, under Gentner Drummond’s ownership and direction, bankrolls the state’s out-of-control and insipid marijuana industry. It should be noted that Blue Sky Bank made this decision while other banks in the state chose not to do the same. This is not something Mr. Drummond was required to do. He could have done otherwise out of principle, but that assumes something that may not exist.
Sixth, Mr. Drummond is on record stating that he supports illegal aliens staying in Oklahoma if they obey the law. That is an oxymoron if there ever was one; does Mr. Drummond not see the self-refuting nature of such a claim?
Seventh, Mr. Drummond recently rushed to the microphone to endorse a candidate for Oklahoma’s superintendent of public instruction who has publicly embraced the agenda of diversity, equity and inclusion. Why would any conservative worth his salt do this?
The list could go on and on. In addition to giving money to Mr. Biden and aligning himself with radicals such as the ACLU, Gentner Drummond recently chose a church of the same denomination as that of Texas’ Democratic U.S. Senate nominee James Talarico as the location and backdrop for a campaign commercial supposedly highlighting his Christian faith.
Keep in mind that Mr. Talarico is the man of “six different genders” and “God is nonbinary” fame.
There is a reason Democrats from across the state are lining up to support Gentner Drummond, while President Trump, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Rep. Josh Brecheen, state senators, representatives and county commissioners are rallying around his opponent, Mike Mazzei.
The reason is pretty clear: When Mr. Mazzei says he is a conservative Republican, he is telling the truth. When Gentner Drummond claims the same, he is not.
Calling yourself something does not make it so. Some people are no more real Republicans than Lia Thomas is a real woman. Why would any free people want to be governed by men who refuse to tell the truth about who they are?

Finding brains in America: Are we getting dumber?

A line from the movie “Forrest Gump” — “Stupid is as stupid does” — should be the motto of Generation Z.
Journalist H.L. Mencken put it another way: “Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard.”
A natural-born misanthrope, Mencken would have delighted in surveying the state of our national unconsciousness.
A recent Gallup poll showed that, by 41% to 36%, Americans sympathize more with the Palestinians than with the Israelis. Among those ages 18 to 34, savagery is favored over civilization by a margin of 53% to 24%.
On 9/11, Palestinians were dancing in the streets of Ramallah and throwing candy to children to celebrate the murder of 3,000 Americans. Israelis joined us in mourning the deaths.
In a July CNBC poll, 40% of voters said some form of socialism would be good for the country. What form of socialism do the fans of bread lines have in mind? The Cuban kind (where the masses are starving), the British variety (with an economy in ruins) or the Canadian type (where you can die waiting for a lifesaving operation)?
A recent NPR/PBS Marist poll showed that 65% of Americans think U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has gone too far. In an Economist/YouGov poll, 50% supported abolishing ICE.
Great idea! Let us turn immigration enforcement over to the Girl Scouts. They can offer a box of cookies to every illegal who self-deports.
In a Rasmussen poll, 54% of respondents said that going to war with Iran was a mistake. If we had not bombed the ayatollahs, we would still have cheap gas and they would have a nuke.
Also, according to Gallup, 44% of Americans believe a man can become a woman.
The rise of Democratic Socialists of America is the latest milepost on the road to dystopia.
How did the average American get so reality-challenged? The culprits include the news media and public education.
The media do not report the news; they mutilate it to fit their agenda. A recent survey showed that only 3.4% of journalists identify as Republicans, against 36% who consider themselves Democrats. Having spent almost 20 years working in a newsroom, I can tell you it is much worse than that, especially among the media elite, who shape coverage.
In July, there were three accidents in which illegal immigrants driving big rigs killed Americans. None was covered by CBS, NBC or ABC. The media ignore problems with illegal immigration, including the immigrant crime wave. To do otherwise would distract from their efforts to demonize ICE and reopen the borders.
What is laughingly referred to as public education shares the blame with media for the public wandering around in a fog. Randi Weingarten, head of the 1.88-million-member American Federation of Teachers, was a member of the Democratic National Committee for 23 years.
In 2025, Ms. Weingarten published a rant called “Why Fascists Fear Teachers.” The “fascists” referred to in the title are conservatives, female athletes and parents who object to the indoctrination of their children.
The typical public school civics class teaches that America was founded by racists, misogynists and xenophobes, that our foreign wars were driven by imperialism, that borders are racist, that income inequality is proof that the system is rigged and that President Trump is the Prince of Darkness.
Several generations of Americans have been taught not to think. They uncritically absorb disinformation from the internet.
They prefer emoting to reasoning. They see scenes of devastation in the Gaza Strip, so Israel must be the aggressor. There are not many well-paying jobs for gender studies majors, so socialism is the answer.
Man-on-the-street interviews are enough to make you weep. Question: “Who is Ukraine at war with?” Answer: “Poland.” Question: “Where is the Middle East?” Answer: “Somewhere near China.” Question: “Who did we fight in World War II?” Answer: “Russia.”
Because of the overuse of digital devices, our attention span is shrinking. According to a Microsoft study, the average human being now has a shorter attention span than a goldfish (8.25 seconds versus nine seconds). According to a Pew Research Center survey, 31% of teens lost focus in class because of cellphone use.
It would all be hilarious except for the fact that these “maroons,” as Bugs Bunny would say, vote. The Democratic Party is counting on them to help turn America into a star-spangled gulag.
The “good-and-hard” part comes later. In the meantime, the zombies are starving. It is so hard to find brains in America today.
