“Then, suddenly again, Christopher Robin, who was still looking at the world, with his chin in his hand, called out “Pooh!” “Yes?” said Pooh. “When I’m–when–Pooh!” “Yes, Christopher Robin?” “I’m not going to do Nothing any more.” “Never again?” “Well, not so much. They don’t let you.” Pooh waited for him to go on, but he was silent again. “Yes, Christopher Robin?” said Pooh helpfully. “Pooh, when I’m–you know–when I’m not doing Nothing, will you come up here sometimes?” “Just me?” “Yes, Pooh.” “Will you be here too?” “Yes Pooh, I will be really. I promise I will be Pooh.” “That’s good,” said Pooh. “Pooh, promise you won’t forget about me, ever. Not even when I’m a hundred.” Pooh thought for a little. “How old shall I be then?” “Ninety-nine.” Pooh nodded. “I promise,” he said. Still with his eyes on the world Christopher Robin put out a hand and felt Pooh’s paw. “Pooh,” said Christopher Robin earnestly, “if I–if I’m not quite–” he stopped and tried again– “Pooh, whatever happens, you will understand, won’t you?” “Understand what?” “Oh, nothing.” He laughed and jumped to his feet. “Come on!” “Where?” said Pooh. ” Anywhere.” said Christopher Robin.
So, they went off together. But wherever they go, and whatever happens to them on the way, in that enchanted place on the top of the Forest, a little boy and his Bear will always be playing.”
–A.A. Milne, The House At Pooh Corner.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO EDWARD BEAR, better known as Winnie The Pooh! He is 100 years old, and just as popular and relevant to a learned society as ever. If you think that Winnie The Pooh is a children’s story, you are right. But if you think that Winnie The Pooh is only a children’s story, you are wrong. Pick up A.A. Milne’s books, and reread them. You will not regret it.
President Trump waived sanctions on the export and sale of Russian oil. Democrats and some Republicans (looking at you, Thom Tillis (R. N.C.)) are screaming that he is violating the law. The President is not violating the law. Maybe the aggrieved members of Congress should read the legislation that they passed. They might learn something.
Well that did not take long. Katie Zacharia quit her job as White House Press Secretary.
Senator Elissa Slotkin (D. Mi.) wants to intimidate and discourage people from going to work for the Trump Administration by promising to criminally prosecute them once the Democrats take power again. Bolshevik!
Senator Elizabeth “Lieawatha” Warren (D. Ma.) wants to block the merger between McCormick & Company, and Unilever, on antitrust grounds. Senator Warren cited her alarm that 1 company would then control Hellman’s Mayonnaise, Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, Cholula Hot Sauce, and McCormick spices. She wants to protect the American people from what? A monopoly over substandard hot sauces and inferior mayonnaise? Sigh. Senator Warren is not a serious person.
If Senator Warren is so concerned about this merger, The Observations suggests that she switch to Duke’s Mayonnaise and Texas Pete Hot Sauce. Better products.
“The best way to honor these victims is to at long last pass common-sense gun laws that reduce the risks of more children, parents, teachers and staff forced to live in fear of similar nightmares for their schools.”
–Senator Ron Wyden (D. Or.).
A 16 year old boy shot his way into a Bend, Oregon elementary school, where he murdered 3 students and 1 teacher, before a father of a student rushed into the building and shot the gunman dead. Horrific, senseless, tragic. All of it. But what is stupid, crass, and just plain wrong are the statements from Democrat officials like Ron Wyden, for whom every shooting is a call for restricting the rights of law abiding Americans.
Oregon already has a slew of laws relating to guns. It is illegal to have a gun on school property. Last time I checked, murder is against the law. But no, no, no! We need more laws!
AND IF YOU CAN BELIEVE IT, there are actually rumblings about criminally charging the father who shot the gunman and ended the threat. Because his possession of a gun on school grounds is illegal.
Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones (D.) announced that he has formed a voter integrity section within his office. Hmmm. Virginia does not require voter ID, does not check citizenship upon voter registration, and allows early voting pretty much year ’round. This is also from the man who defended violating the Constitution to permit Democrats to eliminate Republican representation in Congress, and is threatening ICE from having a presence at polling stations. So tell us, Mr. Attorney General, what voters and what integrity are you seeking to protect?
Tree Hill is a working plantation east of Richmond on State Route 5. It has been for hundreds of years. Now the owner of Tree Hill wishes to sell the property for development. And the usual suspects are coming out of the woodwork, screaming that it is “stolen land”, and is “sacred”, because Chief Powhatan–a violent enemy of the English settlers, and the father of Pocahontas (the real Indian, not the fake one in the U.S. Senate)–was born there. Sigh. You do not know that. And the land legally belongs to another. One would think that the property rights protected by the U.S. and Virginia Constitutions would allow the owner to proceed. But the usual suspects want to gum up the works. And undoubtedly, some spaghetti spined politicians, or activist judges, will bend their knee to the loudest voices. Sigh.
Did you know that the Texas State Fair had a vendor selling fried lemonade? How in the world does one fry lemonade?
The iconic Plaza Hotel will shut down for 4 years for exterior renovations. No more Palm Court, no more wedding receptions, no more Oak Bar, no more fun for the next 4 years.
McDonald’s restaurants are bringing back Boo Buckets just in time for Halloween. Yawn.
Kentucky Fried Chicken has sold Pepsi products for more than 40 years. Pepsico used to own Kentucky Fried Chicken. But times change, and now Kentucky Fried Chicken is dumping Pepsi for . . . Coca-Cola products. Oh, wow!
“Venice Whaler without alcohol is like a strip club without strippers.”
–an unidentified patron of the historic beachside bar in Los Angeles County, California.
The Venice Whaler, a beachfront bar near the pier, has suspended alcohol sales. Not good.
“We do not accept insults to any of our beloved prophets from Adam to Noah, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad peace be upon them all. Well done Saudi Arabia.”
–Rahmeh Aladwan.
Rahmeh Aladwan is a doctor in Great Britain. And a Muslim. She congratulated Saudi Arabia for executing people found to have blasphemed Muhammed. And she is calling for such executions for such offenses, worldwide. If Great Britain had any national pride left, it would put Dr. Aladwan on the next flight to Riyadh.
THIS IS WHY THE OBSERVATIONS KEEPS WRITING THAT ISLAM IS INCOMPATIBLE WITH WESTERN CIVILIZATION!

Before Game 1 of the WNBA Finals, both teams left the court right before the playing of the National Anthem. As soon as the song ended, both teams ran back onto the court. Sigh. You cannot hate this league of hateful lesbians enough. It is not possible.
