“Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.”
–Henry James.
During the 1st year of the current Trump Administration, 50,000 federal government employees were terminated, and $2 billion in payroll was eliminated. It is not to overlook the pain of these affected employees to recognize that this is a good thing. Our federal government remains bloated, but this is a good start. And we hope that the terminated found better and more lucrative opportunities elsewhere.
Democrat Socialists of America pledge and “resolve to support, defend and build understanding of Chinese socialism.” Are you paying attention, America?
Maryland Governor Wes Moore (D.) said that he is “very concerned” that the Trump Administration will interfere with this November’s mid-term elections. Now what in the world does that mean? Governor Moore is just fear mongering. He is merely expressing his Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Seriously. I hear Leftists every day express their concern that President Trump will cancel the elections. It is a stupid comment. Very stupid. But they really believe it. And elected officials like Governor Moore are just stoking the flames of paranoia and ignorance.
Teen takeovers of sections of metropolitan areas have become a thing. These “events” result in bad behavior, such as vandalism, physical brawls, underage drinking, and accosting of pedestrians. From Los Angeles, California to Chicago, Illinois to New York City, these mini riots are a regular occurrence. And now the phenomenon has spread to our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. This is alarming, but more so since it appears that the D.C. Department of Parks & Recreation organizes these teen takeovers, under the theory that they are going to do it anyway, so . . . . Sigh. This is so disturbing.
Alabama’s Tuskegee University enacted a new dress code for students, effective this Fall. The historically black university requires students to wear business attire, with proper shoes. Phones will not be allowed in the dining hall or classrooms. Revealing clothing, bedroom shoes, bonnets, and “du rags” are not permitted. Kudos to Tuskegee University for setting and presumably enforcing standards!
Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong (D.) called for the cancellation of Thanksgiving, calling it a celebration of “colonialism” and the “genocide” of American Indians through the introduction of theretofore unknown diseases by the English colonists. Sigh. And she will probably win the Democrat nomination.
“It’s bad to deport the Haitians from Springfield, they took jobs that were not being filled by other people.”
–Governor Mike DeWine (R. Oh.), demonstrating that he does not understand that Temporary Protective Status is . . . temporary.
U.S. Senate candidate Troy Jackson (D. Me.) Troy Jackson fathered 2 children with his 2nd cousin. Sigh. I think I prefer Nazi tattoo guy.
“I got the coolest action figure for Christmas! “Thank you to all the health care superheroes working today. Let’s help by getting vaxxed and boosted!
–U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico (D. Tx.), posting on social media about his Christmas present of a masked Dr. Anthony Fauci doll.
Anthony Fauci won’t be remembered as a hero, or the voice of science. He’ll be remembered as a fame-seeking fraud, a ruthless tyrant, a shameless liar, and a spineless coward. He may never face accountability under the law, but there’s at least a little justice in that. And Mr. Talarico’s doll will be worthless.
“And then the last one is maybe the most insidious. It was a new state curriculum that would teach Christian Bible stories as historical fact, as the only truth to our youngest students. And I mean kindergarten, first graders. These are kids who aren’t able to think for themselves yet. They haven’t formed their own world views. To push propaganda, to push indoctrination on those youngest students is deeply immoral.”
–U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico (D. Tx.).
Okay. This guy is supposedly a theologian. And he calls The Bible propaganda. He calls the teaching of The Bible to young children immoral indoctrination. Sigh. James Talarico is a fake, phony fraud, in every respect of his life. But his blasphemy is unforgivable. Texans should vote accordingly.
Virginia’s “assault weapons” ban will remain unenforceable for the near future. Attorney General Jay Jones (D.) agreed as a part of his request for a Washington County case concerning the law to remain in abeyance pending a decision by the United States Supreme Court, that the current Commonwealth wide injunction remains in place.
Jay Jones knows the Commonwealth is going to lose this case. He knows that the United States Supreme Court will not countenance laws like this that violate the Constitution. He does not wish to attach his name to a losing cause. Smart move.
Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger (D.) restored the civil rights of more than 66,000 convicted felons. Not because she or her staff personally review applications for the restoration of rights. Just as a matter of course, automatically, because they asked. Because Abigail Spanberger does not care about the applicants’ background, sincerity, life stories, acts of redemption (or not), or . . . anything. She just wants violent criminals to be able to vote. Because she thinks–correctly–that if they vote, they will vote Democrat.
Make Abigail Go Away.
“We’re either wrestling trying to resolve it on behalf of all Americans, their fundamental and Constitutional rights, their respect and their dignity, or you’re working to humiliate them. And I think it’s been pretty disgusting what we’ve seen from Republicans in the past several years on this. Look, I don’t think we need to knock down that youth soccer player who is working with their family and their doctor on whatever their current, you know, crisis is personally. I think it can be supportive of them, allowing them to play in youth sports.”
–former Republican U.S. Representative David Jolly (D. Fl.). Mr. Jolly has repudiated everything he used to claim he believed. And now, Mr. Jolly thinks that boys have a constitutional right to play on girls sports teams. Mr. Jolly is both an idiot and an opportunist.
Kentucky Fried Chicken is now offering a chicken fried steak meal. It comes with gravy, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and a biscuit. If you want to try it, it is only available on Wednesdays, at select locations.
Honda announced that it would cease manufacturing cars with manual transmissions. That is so very sad. Truly.
La Guli, an Italian bakery located in Astoria [Queens, New York City], is closing. Since 1937, the local bakery has been turning out treats for the locals and tourists. Customers would come from Manhattan and even New Jersey to sample the sweet treats. Now, no more tricolor cookies, cannolis, Italian ices, and during the Christmas season, gingerbread houses made to order. Sigh.
The United States created Board of Peace has brokered an agreement by which Hamas and all other militia groups in Gaza will disarm. WINNING!
There was a massive invasion of Moroccans into Spain, at Cueta. More than 60,000 Moroccans poured into Spain, causing the Spanish government to deploy troops to the border. More than 40 Moroccans have died. And Spain’s socialist prime minister disavows any responsibility for the crisis.
Iranian drones attacked Egypt. Iran seems determined to commit national suicide.
The LIV golf tour may be on life support, but it may not die. There are reports of a new group of investors willing to sink millions of dollars into this glorified member-guest golf tour.
CBS Sports suspended NFL broadcaster Tony Romo, indefinitely. Ahh, he was horrible as a broadcaster.
Former San Diego Chargers linebacker Billy Ray Smith, Jr. has died at age 64. R. I. P.
Former Auburn University football standout, Bobby Hunt, who played for the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl I, has died at age 85. R. I. P.
GFK
I disagree regarding your thoughts on Tony Romo. although his drinking issues may have caused him problems, he was a great analyst and would consistently predict the next play better than any other analyst on TV right now.
