Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent.  From now until Easter, Christians begin preparing for the celebration of Christ’s death and resurrection through prayer, penance, the repentance of sins, almsgiving and self-denial.  May we all, in this period of reflection, come to know that which is truly important in this transitory life.
