There was a lot of reaction to yesterday’s Mike Jones obituary. That was to be expected from those who knew Mike. But what was surprising, and maybe it should not have been, were the reactions from people who did not know Mike. Many readers commented on how they were moved by the obituary, and how it made them think about their own relationships with others, both living and dead. The readers seemed to reflect on how their own lives had been shaped by others. And to me, that is a good thing. Because we are all the product of our experiences, and the people whose lives have touched us, and whom we have touched, for better or for worse. It is good to reflect, to be thoughtful, and to be grateful. I urge all to do so, and to pray for those in our lives. It certainly can do no harm, and I posit that it will do a lot of good.
“The fact that I have to spend even a moment’s time talking about somebody else’s text messages from years ago is something that I am deeply unhappy about.”
–Virginia gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger, complaining about voters questions concerning her failure to condemn running mate and Virginia Attorney General candidate, Jay Jones (D.).
Ahhhhh, poor Abigail. She is unhappy.
If Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares (R.) had uttered similar violent thoughts, and Winsome Sears (R.) had not condemned him and demanded he leave the race, Abigail Spanberger would be running commercials condemning Winsome Sears 24/7. What a cheap, fake, phony crybaby! Despite efforts to paint Spanberger as a moderate Democrat, the facade is cracking. She’s a Leftist radical who can’t be bothered to condemn political violence and would prefer to sweep it under the rug instead.
“Every few weeks a white person, usually well-meaning, writes to me asking how to be a better ally. They list the right books they’ve read, the relatives they’ve blocked, the marches they’ve attended. They tell me how many friends they’ve lost for saying the right things, how lonely it feels to be the one white person in their circle who ‘gets it.’ And then, they ask the same exhausting question: ‘What else can I do?’ It’s a question that always lands heavy. Not because I doubt their sincerity, but because the question itself is still a form of protection that centers the asker’s confusion instead of the target’s danger. It’s a request to be taught, forgiven, and reassured, again and again. It’s another round of homework assigned to the wounded.”
–Howard University Professor Stacy Patton.
Professor Patton went on to urge her “white allies” to emulate John Brown. For those who may have forgotten, John Brown murdered people in Kansas and Harper’s Ferry, Virginia, as a protest against slavery. He urged a nationwide violent uprising by slaves, and seized the U.S. Army Munitions Depot in Harper’s Ferry to carry out that uprising. He was captured and hanged for treason, by then Colonel Robert E. Lee, no less. This is who Professor Patton wants her “white allies” to emulate. Yet another call to violence by the Left.
Some dumba$$ Democrat rammed his automobile into a White House gate barrier at 17th & E Streets, NW. Secret Service arrested the fool, and impounded the car. Now really, what does that accomplish, other than you being arrested? Did he think that he would actually make it to the White House structure? Get close enough to assassinate the President? And the driver was driving a Ford Escape (with Maryland license plates). Who thinks that a small SUV is going to put a dent into the raised steel barriers? Did it not occur to him to at least use a Ford Expedition, something with a little heft?
“I’ve come to the Senate floor tonight to ring the alarm bells. We’re in the most perilous moment, the biggest threat to our republic since the Civil War. President Trump is shredding our Constitution. I’m holding the Senate floor to protest Trump’s grave threats to democracy. We cannot pretend this is normal.”
–Senator Jeff Merkeley (D. Or.), indulging his Trump Derangement Syndrome in the United States Senate.
Senator Merkeley insists his protest is against President Trump “dragging us further into authoritarianism.” Poppycock! But since Senate Democrats refuse to fund the federal government, there is little for Senators do other to spew specious arguments and slanders against the President of the United States.
“Shutdowns are terrible and, of course, there will be, you know, families that are going to suffer. We take that responsibility very seriously. But it is one of the few leverage items we have.”
–Representative Katherine Clark (D. Ma.).
Read that again. The American people’s sufferings are Democrat “leverage”. Democrats do not give a damn about you. You are but cannon fodder in their quest for power.
Colonel Creole is out on her book tour, begging people to buy her book. It is not going well, so she took the opportunity to criticize current White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt for “gas lighting” and “trolling” the American people. Goodness! What is that saying, people who live in glass houses . . . ?
“I think the little Manchurian candidate, JD Vance, wants to be president more than anything else. And that he’s willing to do anything to get there. And your whole iteration you just outlined, I mean, he’s scarier in certain ways in some ways. And he’s young and ambitious and agile in the sense that he’s a chameleon who makes himself whatever he thinks the audience wants to hear from him. I always wonder what’s going on in the mind of his wife. Like, are you OK? Please blink four times. We’ll come over here. We’ll save you.”
–MSNBC anchor Jen Psaki, displaying her TDS in her usual crass, humorless way.
The same Cook County, Illinois judge who ruled that ICE agents cannot arrest illegal aliens at courthouses, has now ruled that Chicago Police can arrest ICE agents enforcing the law. Well that is a good look. This imperious and woefully ignorant judge has just squared up 2 opposing sides, one federal, one municipal, both with guns. Are we going to have another shootout at the O.K. Corral? Or Fort Sumter?
The United States Constitution’s Supremacy Clause makes federal law the supreme law of the land. A State cannot stop federal law’s enforcement, and that includes State court judges. Moreover, there is no basis in law to declare that certain places are sanctuaries for criminals. Not even illegal aliens. This Cook County judge is way out of line, and is setting a scenario where someone is going to die. He needs to be removed from the bench, NOW!
New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo (D.) accused fellow candidate Zohran Mamdani (D.) of being “a child of wealth” who has “never held a real job”. Pot, meet kettle.
Maryland Governor Wes Moore (D.) says that the time of studying reparations for the descendants of slaves is over, and it is time to act. In other words, Governor Moore wants to force people who have never owned a slave to pay monies to people who have never been enslaved. This policy embodies the paucity of intellectual thought in the Democrat Party.
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes followed through Tuesday on her threat to sue House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson for not swearing in Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva (D. Az.). She filed the suit in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. It is a baseless suit, and political performance art, meant to distract from the Democrats’ shutdown of the federal government. Because of the shutdown, the House of Representatives is not in session. When the House reconvenes, Miss Grijalva will be sworn in at that time. Not before. And no court can force Speaker Johnson to act on Arizona’s demands. This is stupid.
U.S. Senate candidate Dan Osborn (I. Ne.) says that he will not caucus with either political party if elected to Congress. Hmmm. Then why are prominent Democrats endorsing and campaigning for him, and why are Democrats and the Democrat Party funneling money to his campaign. Because Dan Osborn is not an independent, he is a fake, phony, fraud. He is a Democrat, and a liar. Because if elected, he will caucus with the Democrat Party.
Most, not all, independents are really Democrats. They just do not want to admit it.
In Houston, Texas, Kristina Chambers is charged with manslaughter for running over a man in her speeding Porsche. Kristina Chambers was inebriated, with more than a 0.30 blood/alcohol level (the limit at where you are presumed drunk in Texas is 0.08). Bags of cocaine were also found in her car. But her defense is that she was not drunk. No, no, no. Her high end designer high heel shoes got stuck in the accelator, and she could not stop or maneuver her car. We hope she packed her toothbrush, because that defense is not going to work.
“I hope that their [“indigenous peoples] participation will be central and impactful. Their voices need to be at the center of discussions, because they are the ones who hold the ancestral and practical knowledge necessary for preservation. Climate justice will only be achieved when the territorial and cultural rights of these communities are fully recognized and respected. We want their voices to influence the negotiations, because their influence is the key to ensuring that the commitments made at the Summit are translated into concrete, effective and fair action.”
–Anglican Bishop Marinez Santos Bassotto [Brazil], speaking of the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference.
Here’s an idea. Let us send all the white folks back to Europe, and leave all the Americas to the Indians. Then they can once again leave the land fallow, engage in cannibalism, slavery, and tribal war, all without the civilizing effects of Western Civilization. Would that not be grand?
But if all the white folks go back to Europe, so do electricity, automobiles, machinery, iPhones, the internet, appliances, and other modern conveniences. So too goes the Church. Let’s leave the Americas as they were found.
Why is the Episcopal Church USA and other Anglican dioceses sending delegations to a United Nations Conference on Climate Change? Oh, yeah; Leftist politics.
There is a petition circulating to replace Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny with country singer George Strait at the Super Bowl halftime show. Yes, please. I’ll sign that petition.
